Therapy Information in a Nutshell

All the therapies listed here are available from our practice in Dronfield Woodhouse, easily accessible from Rotherham, Sheffield, Barnsley, Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire (Matlock, Bakewell, Darley Dale)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation And Reprocessing)

When something traumatic happens, or we have extreme fears, they seem to get locked in the nervous system, often with the original picture, sounds, thoughts and feelings. This therapy uses eye movements to process and release these blockages.  Please click here for further information: click for more info

Hypnosis

This is a state of deep relaxation (not sleep) in which the subconscious mind is made more accessible. Although often seen as mere entertainment, hypnosis is a powerful tool for change and is used in circumstances as diverse as sports performance and childbirth.  Please click here for further information: click for more info

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

NLP is an interpersonal communication model developed in the 1970s and looks at how we do things in order to achieve a model of excellence. NLP is often used in the business world but it is just as valuable in a therapeutic setting, to enhance performance, remove obstacles and eliminate unhelpful patterns of behaviour.  Please click here for further information: click for more info

CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)

Although we can all think irrationally at times, if we constantly interpret events in a dysfunctional manner this can lead to anxiety and depression. CBT help clients to identify these “cognitive distortions” and change their reactions and behaviours. click for more info

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

This is one of several ‘Meridian therapies’, the basis of which is an understanding of how thoughts relate to energy fields within the body. This is not unlike the theory behind acupuncture.  Please click here for further information: click for more info

Coaching

Coaching, or Life Coaching. A Life coach does not advise a certain lifestyle or way of doing things, he or she empowers you to make those decisions for yourself. click here for more info

Relationship Counselling

Whatever relationships we have, we all encounter problems occasionally. Sometimes mental health issues or a traumatic event in our lives can have a profound effect on close relationships. click for more info

Transactional Analysis

Transactional Analysis was developed in the late 1950s and basically does what it says on the tin: it analyses transactions between people and the emotions they generate. By doing this, we gain insight into what makes people tick, why they act and react in the ways they do and how their past affects their present. click for more info
